Obi-Wan Ken -- Oh, Boy
They were these sort-of funny, internet-organized groups that caused a stir in public. They started in the early 21st century, and talk of them jumping the shark started in earnest around 2008.
Remember people who liked to dress up like characters from Star Wars?
It was a lot of fun for kids in the late 1970's through the mid 1980's, and also for nostalgic adults in the late 1990's through the mid-2000's, most of them desperately trying to deny that the prequel films were terrible. Dressing up like the characters started jumping the shark around 2007, when Triumph the Insult Comic Dog let loose on the fans at the Ziegfeld theater.
It started getting pretty big around the mid 16th century when Queen Elizabeth I started sending explorers out to keep up with the Spanish, and largely jumped the shark with the economic collapse and anti-colonial sentiments after the end of the second World War.
So, with all that in mind, it's kind of hard not to cringe at the epic triple-play of dumbness of these British Star Wars nerds who had a flash mob lightsaber fight in a mall in Bristol last weekend.
Enjoy the awkwardness:
Youch.
Does this mean we have to go back and update our list of the stupidest Star Wars items on the web?
