Study Says Time When Men Buy Their Own Underwear Is Brief
According to a study by the British department store Debenhams, the average man spends only 17 years of his life buying his own underwear. Most men, rather, allow the women in their lives to do it, first their mothers and then their wives. (Warning: that link includes a picture of five guys who seem much too at ease with standing around in their underpants together.)
Personally, I suspect that this study only applies to British men, seeing as while my mom did buy my underpants for the first 15 years of my life, I've been fairly "undie-pendent" since then, with the recent exception of these snappy AC/DC boxers my wife bought me for Christmas last year.
I don't really expect her to buy me any more, mainly because she bought them as a joke, and was somewhat stunned by how much I liked them. Maybe this year I'll put the Star Wars Rocks ones on my list.
While some might say that this post is just a shameless appeal to increase the popularity of the criminally underrated "underpants" tag on this blog, I argue that it has aroused genuine curiosity on my part.
Hey fellas--do you buy your own underwear?
