Text In The City
When the wife of Tampa resident Wikler Moran-Mora received a text message from her husband earlier this week she was understandably alarmed.
The note from Moran-Mora (pictured) explained that he had been kidnapped, and would not be released until his family provided criminals with a ransom.
Moran-Mora's wife called the police, who began a full-scale manhunt. Then the wife received another text from her husband, saying "Don't call, take it easy, they said they will let me go," and "Everything is alright, I'll be home soon."
Police traced the signal of Moran-Mora's cell phone, and at least a dozen deputies, plus canine units, set out to find him. When they located him, police say Moran-Mora, a Seventh Day Adventist Church of Reform pastor, admitted that he had never been kidnapped or in any danger. So why did he lie?
He faked his own kidnapping so he could have a romantic liasion with his girlfriend, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokesman. Moran-Mora was arrested for giving Joel and Ethan Coen a great idea for their next film a false report to law enforcement and was released on $500 bail.
