Cheerios vs. The Feds
The Food and Drug Administration has a beef with a certain oat-based cereal: They are calling Cheerios a drug.
The claim on the box that the little toasted o's reduce cholesterol by "four percent" can only be made by approved drugs, say the FDA, and the agency is demanding General Mills correct its advertising or risk being snatched off the shelves.
(I bet every parent of young children just passed out after reading that, so let me give you a minute to recover...)
Now, in this original Dumb As a Blog video, watch as a federal agent* gets heavy-handed with a heavy user of this illicit drug.
*OK not a real federal agent. My brother. And the cute little star of the video is his spawn Sebastian.

Um, hello?!?
Cheerios been around for a long, LONG, time and that information isn't exactly 'new'.
FDA has better things to do then have a cow over Cheerios - what's next Quaker's Oatmeal? (They're healthy for you too and can lower cholesterol.) Jeez, this is what happens when smarts does not have common sense.
The only way this makes any sense is that the FDA's on the take with pharmaceutical companies...which makes slightly more sense then this nonsense!

The fda should only be allowed to test to see if the claim is true. If it isn't charge them with fraud. If it is true they should back them. In this day of obesity the fda should be supporting better eating habits. However I believe that yes they benefit from the pharmaceutical companies therefore the rest of us will suffer from this. I think they should be investigated. For the sake of the people.

Can't beat Cheerios. It's the MFing bomb with honey and whole milk. FDA back off Cheerios. Now!
