I Guess There's No Harm In Asking...
The home state of disgraced former Governor Rod Blagojevich is the scene for one of the dumber requests I've read about this week. Yuri Ermakov was a former assistant high school track coach who was convicted in 2007 for inappropriate sexual contact with one 15-year-old girl and supplying alcohol to two 16-year-old girls. He would still be in jail today had he not fled the country moments before the jury returned with a guilty verdict. He is believed to be in Russia.
With all that in mind, the Champagne County Court was puzzled to receive a letter from a Chicago lawyer, who requested transcripts of the trial in order to apply for a governor's pardon for Ermakov.
Wow.
Sometimes, the word "no" just doesn't seem strong enough, does it?
Still, this is Illinois. And there has been no comment from current Governor Patrick Quinn (pictured), who previously served as Blago's Lieutenant Governor. I mean, you wouldn't think he'd pardon a fugitive sex offender.
I don't know how much Governor Quinn takes after his predecessor, but my guess is, if you asked, "he wouldn't want to give this “motherf—-er his (pardon). F—- him. For nothing? F—- him.”
