Merriam-Webster to Airdrop Copy Editors Into Cincinnati
A fumbling finger led to cut-rate gas prices in Cincinnati, OH yesterday after a clerk at at a Marathon Gas station accidentally set the computer to charge $1.40 a gallon instead of $4.10.
The clerk was unable to fix the error and could not contact his manager, so for three blissful hours there was regular unleaded available at turn-of-the-millennium prices. But as the word got out, long lines formed, and sheriff's deputies eventually shut down the station in order to ease traffic. But in case you think the poor clerk is alone in his typos, check out the report from Cincinnati's news radio station 700WLW:
"[The gas prices] sent people jamming the facility trying to fill up their tanks. The backup spilled into the street, and tempers started to flair."
I know some people are known for their tempers, but who knew that so many had a real flair for tantrums? Queen City, you are just full of surprises!
