Thanksgiving is about food, family and Hanukkah. Wait… WTF? This year the Hanukkah stork is delivering The Festival of Lights way sooner than we planned for. Most of us are scrambling to prepare as we devour the last of our Halloween candy.
In addition to it’s untimely scheduling, we decided to list 7 more dumb things about the holiday. Spin that dreidel and read on!
1) Never knowing when it is
The first night of Hanukkah this year falls on November 27th. If you didn’t know, that is the night before Thanksgiving, which makes us say, “Whaaaaaaattttt???” We could’ve sworn the first night of Hanukkah last year was just before Christmas. Next year it’ll be on New Year’s Eve and the year after that it’ll be on President’s Day. What gives, Hanukkah? Quit being the Waldo of holidays and constantly making us find you.
2) Too many ways to spell it
Hanukkah? Hanukka? Chanukah? Channuka? Chaka Khan? We understand this is a Jewish holiday, so the name derives from another language and culture, but man, oh man, it’s getting a lot harder to keep up with the spelling for this thing. Seems like every time we wanna wish our Jewish friends a happy holiday, AutoCorrect makes our phones explode in our hand.
