Chuck E. Cheese is where a kid can be a kid. Incidentally, Chuck E. Cheese is also where an adult can be arrested for brawling in a ticket line as dozens of children watch. Great birthday party, Mom and Dad!
It was Skee balls to the wall on Sunday in the Lincoln Park, Illinois, establishment known for arcade games, ball pits and freakishly large pizza-wielding animatronic mice. As CBS Chicago reports, “At least 30 people were involved in a brawl, which started among a group of people waiting in line for prizes.” Looks like someone severely underestimated the popularity of that oversized novelty SpongeBob plush toy.
Police arrested Shambreya Barfield, 21, and Trevell Washington, also 21, charging Barfield with one count of misdemeanor battery and Washington with two counts of the same charge. According to the report, several people were injured, but no one had to be hospitalized as a result of the brawl.
Perhaps everyone was just bored with venue’s cabaret show and decided to put on a show of their own. We all know watching robots sing can wear on your nerves. Unfortunately, all they did was close the curtains on their ability to ever visit Chuck E. Cheese again.
No word on if the patrons ever got to actually redeem their prize tickets. If not, one can only hope they can be used for a reduction on court costs.
