B&H Lifes, a pet supplement company in Japan, has released Nyan Nyan Nouveau — a wine they are billing as “exclusively for cats.” Though I think the “exclusively” part is a bit excessive; I can’t imagine many people wanting to give “wine for cats” a try.
Nyan Nyan Nouveau consists of Cabernet grapes, vitamin C and catnip and contains no alcohol, but supposedly still tastes like red wine — at least according to the sad sack who has the job of “cat wine taster.”
As Kotaku reports, “B&H Lifes decided to develop the drink for those wanting to celebrate birthdays or Christmas with their beloved cats,” a statement that sounds far sadder than the winemakers could have ever possibly intended. And I think it’s still up in the air whether pouring your kitty a bowl of Nyan Nyan Nouveau technically prevents you from being drinking alone.
Those who are looking forward to boozing with their feline buddies better get in fast — B&H is only selling a thousand bottles of the vino. Priced at 399 yen ($4), it’s sure to go fast — a perfect holiday gift to remind your mom how sad her life is.
