Crack is a highly addictive drug that people want to buy. On the mean streets, the drug has a lot of value. But to your water company, not so much. A man in Florida (where else?) learned that lesson the hard way.
According to the West Volusia Beacon, the Deltona Water offices in Deltona, Florida, were evacuated on Monday “after a customer handed a cashier an envelope with a white powder in it.”
After testing, the substance was determined to be crack cocaine.
Authorities suspect the man was trying to pay his bill with the drug. According to NBC Miami, the envelope “contained a clear plastic bag with 3 grams of crack cocaine.” So… maybe he was behind on his bill? How much does 3 grams of crack go for these days? And how much is a water bill in Florida? It is summertime. Maybe he has a pool?
Though it doesn’t get much dumber than trying to pay a municipal bill in illegal narcotics, you have to applaud the man for choosing to pay his debts and keep his water running over feeding a drug habit. Or maybe he’s going to have to confront a very angry wife who’s wondering why the shower is working and she’s out of crack?
Police are still seeking the suspect. They might want to keep their eyes out for a man with plenty of water but a very low supply of crack.
