There are some people who just can’t help being awesome. Meredith Fitzmaurice is one of those people. Even her mistakes result in huge wins. My mistakes usually result in a burnt microwavable pizza.
According to CBC Raido, the 34-year-old originally planned to run in the half-marathon at the Run for Heroes in Amherstburg, Ontario. Instead, she accidentally ran the full marathon. Yet despite running in the wrong event, she won it!
While attempting to compete in the shorter race, Fitzmaurice missed her turn for the half-marathon route. Despite having to cover double the distance, she decided to persevere and ended up being the top female finisher. The Montreal Gazette reported that she was afraid her win wouldn’t count but an official confirmed that it would be recognized.
Fitzmaurice, now qualifies to run in the Boston Marathon and will probably do really well. I, on the other hand, will be sitting in my apartment eating a burnt Red Baron pizza while complaining about the last episode of Dexter.
