Most married couples would agree that the key to a successful marriage is compromise. For someone like Davecat, though, it’s more about the quality of your platinum-based silicone than anything else.
Featured on shows like My Strange Addiction and the BBC documentary Guys and Dolls, Davecat is married to a life-like doll, Sidore Kuroneko. The two have been happily married for 15 years – not that she really has a choice in the matter.
Davecat purchased his “wife” back in 2000 from Abyss Creations, a company that specializes in premium sex dolls. After a few years, he felt like his wife needed a friend to stare lifelessly at while he was at work, so in 2012 he bought a second doll named Elena. That doll also happens to be his mistress, which Davecat claims his wife is totally cool with.
So how much does a non-organic life partner set you back? Glad you asked…
Both dolls set the 40-year-old data entry worker back about $6,000 but he has no regrets. Davecat says his dolls have kept him from having to deal with “humans’ inconsistencies,” like cheating, divorces, or pesky free will. According to an interview in The Atlantic, Davecat calls himself an iDollator, which is someone who sees their dolls as much more than just a sex toy. But as Davecat said, “my reasons for purchasing her were 70 percent sex, 30 percent companionship.”
How do his friends and family feel about his synthetic relationship? Davecat’s friends — yes, he has those — are fine with it. His father still refuses to buy into the whole thing but his mother seems to have accepted the fact that she’s never going to have grandchildren.
That’s probably good because if Davecat could have kids with his dolls they’d probably turn out creepier than Chucky.
