Who says chivalry is dead?
Someone named Fakhara Sultana, might.
Sultana was in court on Wednesday because a guy she met on the dating site Zoosk allegedly tried to steal her phone after she refused to go Dutch on a bar tab.
According to The Telegraph, after spending about $84 on two rounds of drinks at an expensive bar, Kishore Nimmala, insisted that Sultana split the bill. According to reports he got angry after she refused and kept bothering her for her half of the money. Sultana cut the date short and pulled out her phone as she walked outside, probably to tell her friend what a special kind of jerk he was being. That’s when Nimmala is said to have decided to try his hand at swiping the cell, since he was clearly not going to be boyfriend material.
Then the couple when on another date…
a court date.
The court was told that Sultana yelled and chased after Nimmala after he ran off with the phone. Two officers eventually caught him and when asked why he ran off with her phone he replied, “She took my money. I took her phone.” Yeah, that line should play well with the female jurors.
Prosecutor Helen Thomas told the jury, “the defendant was fed up having shelled out money on a date that was going nowhere and he decided to teach Fakhara Sultana a lesson by stealing her mobile phone out of spite and causing her maximum inconvenience in doing so.”
The trial – like Nimmala’s life as a 32-year-old bachelor – is ongoing.
