I before E, except after C.
I still remember the day I learned that in school. It has a certain cadence that sort of sticks in your head. Writers such as myself use it regularly.
Of course some people, like Larry Sanders, clearly didn’t pay attention during class that day. Fortunately, he doesn’t get paid for his grammar skills.
Bleacher Report recently reported that the Milwaukee Bucks forward posted photos of his two new tattoos on Instagram. He got the word “ask” tattooed on one hand and “recieve” tattooed on the other. His followers almost instantly pointed out that “receive” was spelled wrong. He responded as only a true jock would: by randomly entering a string of letters followed by, “Excuse my language folks.” Hey, you can’t get the order wrong on random letters, can you?
If Sanders were smart — and that’s certainly up for debate at this point — he could turn this fail into a win. All he has to do is get his tattoo artist to add one of those little red squiggly lines underneath the word! That way people would appreciate that he has a sense of humor about the mistake and hipsters will think he’s being ironic.
Regardless, Sanders still has the tattoo and people continue to leave insults about his intelligence on his social media accounts. It may be a difficult time for him but at least he has that $44 million contract extension to help him get through it. Not bad for a guy who didn’t finish college.
Who are the real idiots here?
