It looks like grammar fails aren’t just for Facebook anymore.
Drivers recently noticed a traffic sign outside a preschool in Auburn, California, which reads, “Please Slow Drively.” As you’d expect, most people got a chuckle but some grammar nuts are calling it a sign of the times.
No one really knows for sure if the mistake was intentional or if the sign maker just needs to pay more attention to the spell checker on his computer. Either way, its bound to cause a lot of confusion and probably an accident or two.
Most of the residents interviewed by local news KTXL Fox 40 agree that the sign is kind of stupid. One little girl said of the sign makers, “Maybe they are preschoolers.” Personally, I think that’s a little insulting to preschoolers.
Whatever the case may be, it does the job of slowing people down. Unfortunately it’s only so they can get a better look at the sign and not the road. So much for trying to be clever.
