Kanye West’s latest album, Yeezus, is ostensibly his most political to date. With provoking titles like “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves,” it appeared he was trying to evoke some level of social commentary. Then the guy who married a woman who is famous only for being famous raps about hating the paparazzi. Despite his name, it seems as if West never quite knows what direction he wants to head.
And here we are again, with news that Kanye has lent his name and “collaboration” skills to what is essentially a $120 plain white T-shirt. If you find that shocking, you’ll probably be even more appalled to know that the shirt has sold out.
Made from Egyptian cotton — which may be harder to get in these times of political turmoil? — the “very loose T-shirt” has “‘A.P.C. KANYE’ silkscreened inside [the] neckline,” according to the online shop. Maybe a good run through the dryer will tighten that thing up for you?
The site Fashonista claims that designer Paul Touitou described Kanye as difficult to work with. Really? The guy who just put out a track called “I Am a God” is hard to work with??
Though to be fair, think of all the different shades of white he had to look through…
