The American Supreme Court made a number of landmark decisions recently. Meanwhile, in Italy, it’s been revealed that one of their courts struck a huge victory for irony, sentencing a homeless man to… um… house arrest.
Italian newspaper Il Stampa reported earlier today on the story of Domenico Codispoti, a 48-year-old small-time thief and drug dealer living in Milan who has served a house arrest sentence “along the sidewalks of via Pisani” since it was handed down back in 2006.
“The court gave me this sentence,” Codispoti is quoted as saying. “Since I don’t have a house, there was no other solution left: during the night I can’t move, I have to stay here, stuck on this sidewalk.”
And it’s about damn time. The homeless aren’t better than us normal people! (I think that’s obvious.) Why should they get special treatment and never have to serve house arrest like the rest of us?? I’m sick of liberal government-types allowing a little technicality like not having a home come between the homeless and serving their rightful punishment. Let’s force them to not leave the streets that have led them to become thieves and drug dealers because they so desperately want the money to leave those streets!
It only makes sense. I think…
At the very least, you can get pizza delivery to the sidewalks in Italy, right?
