The Turkish government may not admit it but officials there have been so distracted lately that they’re starting to make some really embarrassing mistakes.
To be fair, I’d probably be a little distracted too if society was falling apart all around me.
Emily Harris, a 9-year-old British girl, recently managed to pass through Turkish customs with a phony passport identifying her as a unicorn. Yup, the picture on the passport wasn’t even a human but a pink unicorn. Emily’s mother said that the customs agent just looked at it, asked Emily how old she was and sent her on her way.
The girl’s mother said in a statement, “I didn’t realize until I was putting the passports away. There was a moment of panic when I thought someone would come chasing after us, but nothing.”
Did the customs agent even notice that it was a fake passport? Maybe the agent just had a good sense of humor about it and played along? I’m leaning towards ‘no’ on this one. An airport customs agent with a sense of humor is about rare as an actual unicorn.
