Showing up hours late for a concert in England , fainting backstage, screaming at paparazzi, and having his pet monkey confiscated in Germany.
Now the 19-year-old mega star has put his foot in his mouth via putting a note in the Anne Frank museum’s guest book. Bieber reportedly wrote:
“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
The message left at the teenage Holocaust victim’s Amsterdam hideout is being called “inappropriate” and “self-serving” — and those are the nice comments.
So, was this comment dumb? Yeah, it I think it was. But the museum? They thought he was totes awesome. On the Anne Frank House Facebook page they wrote:
“The Anne Frank House was pleased to welcome Justin Bieber to the Anne Frank House last Friday. We think it is very positive that he took the time and effort to visit our museum. He was very interested in the story of Anne Frank and stayed for over an hour. We hope that his visit will inspire his fans to learn more about her life and hopefully read the diary.”
So in short, perhaps this was dumb for a good cause? Although this reaction is certainly not positive for him, I think that if he hadn’t left that stupid comment, many young people would never have known who Anne Frank was? And I certainly wouldn’t have seen the museum’s website.
So carry on Justin. Please step in it at all the notable landmarks in Europe…
