Gustavo Almodovar signoff video goes viral but that’s the end of the dumb fun

Share

38 seconds with Gustavo Almodovar, pictured, is a :38 YouTube video that’s gone viral.  It’s not hilarious so much as hypnotic.  It’s just this guy signing off from his report again and again with a tiny head turn and eyebrow lift.

So now he’s famous and WFTV Channel 9 is probably thrilled they have a genuine star in local news, right?

Well sadly, no. The video was uploaded in November 2008 and only just became a hit.  According to an article by Dylan Stableford Gustavo Almodovar left the broadcast biz and he’s now a marketing brand manager at a Hospital in Orlando, FL.

So those signoffs were his last.  It’s a memorial of sorts.  It’s terribly sad.

Let’s let’s watch it 500 times and shed a tiny tear for this great loss to American Journalism.  Maybe if we view it enough times someone will wrestle him away from an office career and plunk a foam-covered mic back in his hands.  That eyebrow is far too sexy to spend all day under artificial light.
