A dumb driver in Cleveland has been publicly humiliated after repeatedly pulling a stunt where she avoided a school bus by driving on the sidewalk. In addition to suspending her license and fining her, The judge took the extraordinary measure of ordering her to hold a sign in public reading: “only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”
Now, before you get all over this judge for publicly shaming somebody, check out this video- we’re talking about a repeat offender, caught on video TWICE. And not only is this stupid, but this woman lives in Ohio, so her vote in the Presidential election probably counted way more than yours.
Not stopping for a stop sign on a bus is illegal, but so is driving on the sidewalk. Attempting to circumvent one law only makes sense if the actions you take don’t immediately and blatantly break another law.
That’s like getting trying to get around a law stating you have to clean up after your dog by picking up his crap, and then throwing it in someone’s face. Uh, yeah, I guess you technically did pick up the poop, but now it’s assault. Not a good workaround. By the way, here at Dumb As A Blog we have always prided ourselves in our ability to neatly explain any legal situation with a simile involving feces throwing. Just one of our strong points.
