It's easy to think sometimes that an obsession over bacon is a purely online phenomenon. But as this costume from 1894 proves, some people were bacon-crazy way before high-speed internet existed. Or dial-up internet. Or computers at all:
That picture is a scan from the out-of-print book "Bacon and Hams" by George J. Nicholls, published in 1917. Flash forward 118 years, and the costumes may have changed a little, but the sentiment remains the same:
So who wore bacon better? This lovely lass or our retro fella from 1894?
With all due respect to the sexy lady, I'm with George J on this one. The hat adds a lot.
