Here's a video that features the two types of people that you hate to see in restaurants: stingy customers and power tripping managers.
The family in this video had the police called on them because they refused to pay the tip, claiming the service was terrible and they didn't get all the food they wanted. Whether that's true or not I really don't know but as someone who's worked in the restaurant business I can tell you that a family of penny-pinching hungry people will make you wish for the apocalypse to come sooner rather than later.
However, the manager in this situation really dropped the ball on this one because the manager's sole job is to make sure everyone is happy, NOT to call the police and lock them in the restaurant! The manager should have done what all restaurant managers do: smile, give the customers a gift certificate, then go home and slowly cry themselves to sleep while thinking of the terrible life's choices they've made (after they've finished next week's work schedule of course).
Here's a tip for both the manager and the family: next time just duke it out on Yelp. That way we'll all be entertained without the social awkwardness that goes with watching an argument break out while trying to enjoy a popcorn shrimp dinner.
