Pointless instructional videos from the ’80s only an idiot would find useful

Before useless information became endless and absolutely free for the taking 24/7 (thank you, Internet Gods), we were blessed with Encyclopedia Britannicas and VHS instructional videos.

The latter taught us how to sweat to the oldies, how to succeed as a grillmaster at Wendy's and the importance of safe sex — all necessary skills for life. But then you have the occasional how-to VHS tape that serves up awkward lessons in magic tricks and how to score more points in Nintendo games. These tips-on-video could be cool, except for the fact that the magic is unimpressive (bikinis aside), and the Nintendo video is full of wrong information and bad advice. If you're going to take the time to call yourself the "World Video Game Champion" (a title you completely made up), at least get your facts straight.
