Whether it makes sense or not, Ken Nichols wants to do two things in this commercial: play football and sell you 2011 Mazda 3.
There must be this unwritten rule in the world of local auto dealerships that says half of a commercial must look great but the other half has to look like a rejected bit from Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! The production value in the middle of this commercial looks really polished and has a simple, concise message about the product and the deal. But the beginning and ending are completely amateurish and nonsensical. It looks like Nichols ran out and bought all the green fabric he could find at the local five and dime store and shot this in his basement.
I watched this video over and over again and I couldn't figure out how he was trying to tie his football wackiness to selling cars. Maybe in his mind he thought, "Hey people love football and cars so I'll just put the two together and see what happens!" And what happened was 30 seconds of your life that you'll never get back.
