The best part of watching politicians put their big, stinky feet in their equally big, stinky mouths isn't the actual words that put them in such treacherous waters. It's the squirming and back peddling they do to avoid going over the waterfall, just as they reach the highwater mark. You wouldn't see this many hilarious flailing of arms and unnecessary screaming if they were on fire.
This East Haven mayor not only realizes the heat he's going to get for the snide and inappropriate comment as he's saying it, but his subsequent behavior shows he actually believes it's possible for a human being to swim upstream from this river of stupidity. Despite what he or any other political hacks thinks, I'm sure that we can all agree that people are not salmon unless, of course, there's some Supreme Court ruling that I haven't heard about yet.
