A simple search for “How to get in shape” on YouTube, led me to an extreme fitness channel my eyes and ears were NOT prepared for. What looked like an assault-in-progress, was actually the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Fat Destroyer,” a fitness drill instructor named Casrock who literally beats the fat off his clients. His brutal training style may be his trademark but if you ask me, getting yelled at and hit in the name of vanity is just D.U.M.B.
One of Casrock’s contraptions, the “Torture Rack” involves strapping 6-pack hopefuls upside down at the edge of a pool to do crunches while holding heavy weights. Apparently, the willing participants are dumber than dumbbells since they fail to recognize the less stupid alternative that can produce equal results and reduce their risk of a drowning death — exercising at the local gym.
To make matters worse, Casrock's motivational-speak consists of blaming the skinny wannabes for the painful predicaments they find themselves in. “You should’ve thought of that before you ate the fried chicken” sounds harsh in comparison to more traditional techniques used by the likes of say… Richard Simmons. Simmons can be heard cheering "that's perfect, you're doing great!" in his Blast and Tone workout videos.
But Casrock seems to have taken a page out of Simmons' book when he introduced his workout dance parties. It features a dance line where members can strut their moves in the center of an on-looking, encouraging group and best of all…there appear to be no beatings. Now everybody cha-cha!
