A Lithuanian mayor ran over a Mercedes with a tank because it was parked in the bike lane.
The video is pretty awesome even though it was clearly staged. The supposed owner of the Mercedes, who walks out to find his car destroyed, is exactly the type of Euro-douche you would expect to be parking in a bike lane. He was a little too perfect to not be an actor. It was also a give-away when the owner calmly accepted his car's destruction instead of screaming, "What the $%@# did you do to my car!"
This type of agitprop is kind of silly and if I was a citizen of this city I would want my politicians to be spending a little more time on policy and less time on publicity stunts. On the other hand, as a consumer of digital media and a fan of Eastern Europe I love this video! It's just the kind of corny, fun stuff I want to see from them.
The entire region has been bottled up for far too long. I'm looking forward to more wacky, zany stunts coming from the former Soviet Union. Maybe a comptroller from Bulgaria can burn a pile of counterfeit bills or an Ombudsman from Estonia can karate chop a crooked landlord. The possibilities are endless.
