The initial reviews of Julie Taymor and Bono's Spider-Man musical Turn Off the Dark have been pretty awful, but if film is any indicator we should expect to see more superheroes on the big stage, which ones will be next?
How about the Punisher? In the comic, he's a dark, moody vigilante bent on killing any and every criminal that stands in his way, but he doesn't have to be so torturous. I say we turn that skull-frown upside-down with a cheery musical number that will make him forget all that silly vendetta business and remind him how wonderful it feels to dance!
Or maybe Thor? He already uses bad Shakespeare dialogue. "I say thee nay foul villain!" And just like in Turn Off the Dark you can make up for the lack of CGI special effects with poorly orchestrated highwire acrobatics that get screwed up halfway through the show.
Wolverine would also work well because Hugh Jackman is a natural on the stage. IndyMogul did a great depiction of Wolverine: The Musical.
