If some of you haven't heard the ruckus surrounding Matt Lauer's interview of Kanye West on The Today Show, let's get you up to speed.
The superficial.com has the whole debacle laid out in a pleasant format with video from The Today Show but here is my interpretation of the interview.
Kanye came on to the show to man up and apologize for some of his questionable behaviors over the years which is the right thing to do. It's a great press opportunity and people love you when you're humble. He was also afforded the opportunity to explain the pressures in his life which led him to make some uninformed claims. We can all relate to that, right?
He almost nailed it until his paranoid, diva behavior interrupted filming when he challenged Matt Lauer and the crew on their decision to air a clip of him yanking the microphone out of Taylor Swift's hands. He basically proved to us that he does indeed have impulse control problems.
Airing clips is routine in any news talk show but Kanye basically had a fit and tweeted incessantly about not being able to trust the media. You can see his increasingly bizarre Twitter rant here.
Lauer later made it clear that nothing about that segment was out of the ordinary and plugged the anticipated upcoming performance by West, which apparently they didn't understand was cancelled by Kanye via Tweet.
Professional.
note: I corrected the story to reflect that Kanye yanked the mic out of Taylor's hand, not the award, which still makes him totally rude.
