She wrote in a tweet on Monday, “John Boehner: Stop using my dad's name as a punchline, you asshat.”
The joke, as reported by the NY Times, goes as follows: "Remember when Ronald Reagan was president? We had Bob Hope. We had Johnny Cash. Think about where we are today. We have got President Obama. But we have no hope and we have no cash."
Shortly after Roseanne Cash’s tweet was posted a perturbed Meredith Asshat, daughter of the late James Abernathy Asshat, sent out a tweet of her own insisting that Roseanne not use her dad’s name as a punchline either.
Roseanne quickly apologized and said that she in no way meant to demean the Asshat family or disparage the contributions their Asshat haberdasheries made to the country during the Revolutionary War.
When Bob Hope’s daughter was asked what she thought about John Boehner using her father’s name in the joke she said, “Yeah, whatever.”
