There was National Hockey League Drama in Minneapolis last night, as the Vancover Canucks faced off with the Minnesota Wild in a one-sided contest that the Wild won by the score of 6-1. But as the blowout was developing, and the score was 5-1, the inevitable pushing and shoving led to this:
Uh oh.
There really is no way to excuse Rick Rypien's behavior here. An athlete going into the stands to commit violence upon a paying customer is the cardinal no-no of professional sport, unless of course, the athlete beats the fan with his own shoe, which, you know, makes it kind of great.
Certainly, there will be suspensions here, unless of course you believe the homers calling the game for the Vancouver Canucks in this clip (h/t Puck Daddy) who have the audacity to not only blame the fan, but suggest that he may not want to leave his beer behind. Which is probably true, but beside the point.
