Disgruntled workers worldwide are rejoicing that someone finally took the old adage "take this job and shove it" soaring to new heights.
Cruising altitude to be exact.
As the story goes, a bad-mannered passenger ignored orders to stay in his seat while the plane was taxiing, defied Slater's request to sit down and went into the overhead bin to retrieve his luggage anyway, behavior that is against safety regulations. An argument ensued, and somehow, Slater was struck in the head with either the luggage or the compartment door.
Slater, 38, reportedly went onto the loud speaker and told the passengers to "go f*** themselves." He then deployed the emergency slide, grabbed a cold beer, slid down onto the tarmac and ran to his car which was parked nearby.
We are dazzled, sir.
Obviously this will go down as a legendary "I quit" scenario but we are left to wonder if it will be worth it in the long run now that Slater, the working class vigilante, faces charges of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. We also wonder how easy it will be for him to get another job, especially since he can't run for Mayor here in New York until 2013.
So what do you think?
What should Steven Slater should do next, and was his outburst dumb… or heroic?
