This is good news for E.T. enthusiasts who read the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (Assap) report, which claimed that Ufology would be dead in ten years for lack of sightings. But it’s bad news for those who thought the likelihood of getting abducted and probed was increasingly unlikely.
People wonder if the increase of sightings in Canada is at all correlated to the decrease seen in the U.S. Perhaps the intergalactic travelers have collected everything they need from the American people?
In 2008, for example, Canadians reported 1,004 sightings which established a record for that time. Four years later, that total jumped to 1,981, the increase stretching across every province in the country. So, it wasn’t like one alien-obsessed town got together to talk up the phenomenon to raise public awareness or drive local tourism.
A variety of spaceships have been spotted in the last year, from “triangles and balls of fire, to the more traditionally ovoid-shaped flying saucers, hovering in the sky.” There have even been others that are shaped like guitar picks. So, maybe aliens received our transmissions of Jimi Hendrix, after all.
The sightings have been made by people of all walks of life and ages. Adam Canning, a ten-year old from Lake Charlotte, Nova Scotia, reported seeing a giant orb strapped with a gun and that had a giant light sticking out from the top of its dome. He said:
“I heard this, beep, beep, beep. I knew something was in the sky. I looked up and there was a big thing…
There’s normally helicopters flying over our house but that was way bigger than a helicopter, so I knew it wasn’t a helicopter…
There was this one little thing sticking out from the front, it looked like a little gun or something, and there were these two things sticking out of the bottom, it looked like legs or something. There were these little round lights around the whole thing and at the top, there was one big light.”
So despite Assap’s claim that UFO cases were down 96% since 1988, it seems the Canada is a new hub for extraterrestrial activity.

The waters surrounding Brazil are some of the least explored in the world, so it makes sense that something so large could have gone undiscovered there for so long. Discovered 600 miles from Rio de Janeiro, and deeper than 3,000 feet underwater, it would seem that another sunken continent has been waiting for centuries to be discovered at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
Scientists aren’t sure exactly what they’ll find―whether remnants of a lost civilization or just continental rock ―but they are relatively certain that something world-changing lies at the bottom of the seabed. A Japanese submersible took video of an immense heap of granite found on the ocean floor―possible proof that this was once a large landmass.
Granite is only formed on land, so any large amount at the bottom of the Atlantis indicates the presence of sunken land. It’s possible that the granite could have gotten there by some other way, so more testing is needed to find out the truth.
As one Brazilian official put it: “This could be the Brazilian Atlantis.”
One theory is that the sunken continent was once part of the super-continent Pangaea, which broke apart 200 million years ago, apparently due to seismic activity. This sunken piece of land could be a piece of what once was a single chunk of the Earth puzzle. Who knows what more mysteries await at the bottom of Brazil’s ocean floor?

In 2003, a resounding 75 percent of Americans were convinced that JFK was targeted by a conspiracy that went well beyond Oswald. But ten years later, in an Associated Press poll conducted in April, only 59 percent believed the same thing.
That’s not all: 16 percent of those polled aren’t sure what to believe, and the rest (24 percent), believe that Oswald was a lone gunman. But what’s responsible for this recent dive in perception?
It could be that the internet has provided people with an avenue by which to more easily research the details of Oswald’s crime. Ten years ago, people were less inclined to do heavy searching in matters of political intrigue on the World Wide Web. Or, it could be that Bill O’Reilly’s recently released presidential thriller Killing Kennedy is influencing some minds. As Robert Mawyer of Blairsville, Ga. told the Associated Press after reading Killing Kennedy, “assuming all of [the book’s] information is correct, he has no problem accepting that Oswald went solo.” But really, no one is sure why less people now believe in a JFK conspiracy.
But despite 59 being less than 75, that still means that a majority of Americans think that there was plenty of evidence that a variety of people assisted in the assassination. In fact, as RFK Jr. pointed out, that is what is his father, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, believed. Before being assassinated himself, RFK had a suspicion that mobsters put a hit out on his older brother.
What do you believe?

In crystal-clear clarity, the picture reveals an unidentified grey object that isn’t shaped like a satellite or human aircraft. Unless it’s an insanely elaborate movie prop, we might be looking at an alien vehicle.
When zoomed-in, the high-resolution image shows the object surrounded by a rainbow aura that might be a cloaking device or protective shield. And though UFOs are mainly high-speed aircraft, it doesn’t seem to be moving. Instead, it appears to be hovering above the planet’s blue visage, so perhaps it’s part of a reconnaissance or surveillance mission…
Only one photograph shows the object, which was discovered on the NASA database. The image appears to coincide with a witness report on May 2 of this year that allegedly spotted a similar object floating over San Lorenzo, California.
The witness states that the object was mostly stationary and was emitting red, orange and yellow lights. However, considering that the above image was posted on NASA’s website in 2003, it would appear that the two events are not related.
But why is there only one photograph? Did NASA remove others or is it just some sort of glitch and not a UFO at all?
In any case, it seems that Earth’s skies are trafficked by more than just satellites and Russian comets. And people are finally starting to notice the increase in space activity.

According to a new Justice Department report, the FISC approved all 1,856 government surveillance requests submitted last year. Since 1978, they have only rejected 11 applications and accepted over 20,000. That means that either we have a very trustworthy government or the FISC is nothing but a “yes man” of a court system.
After the US Senate discovered that the government had been abusing its power by spying on civilians, the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was implemented. As part of FISA, the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court was created to make sure that government officials got criminal punishment for spying on Americans without a warrant.
To no one’s surprise, the Bush administration simply changed that law to allow his cronies to get away with warrantless spying after he got caught doing just that.
Since 2008, the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court has existed to approve warrants asked for by the government “for foreign intelligence purposes.” Because of President Bush ― and later Obama, who extended the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 for five years ― the U.S. can now “conduct surveillance of foreign nationals inside the U.S and overseas who are believed to pose a security risk to the country.” As long as a warrant by the FISC is given. Lucky, for the U.S., the FISC doesn’t have any qualms handing them out like hotcakes.
Supporters of the amended FISA Act, like W., believe it’s necessary in a world plagued by terrorism. As he put it:
“One of the important lessons learned after 9/11 was that America’s intelligence professionals lacked some of the tools they needed to monitor the communications of terrorists abroad. It is essential that our intelligence community know who our enemies are talking to, what they’re saying, and what they’re planning.”
The power to indiscriminately monitor people is so essential in the fight against terrorism, that the FISC’s hearings and proceedings are closed to the public. Therefore, it’s not possible to hear any opinions on the matter from the practicing court judges. All of whose names can be found here.
The current administration agrees that under no circumstances should the opinions of the secret court should be declassified. Disclosure of any information relating to the FISC and how it handles itself “implicates classified intelligence sources and methods.”
So asking the FISC to comment on a matter could be seen as a danger to those protected intelligence sources and methods. America the Beautiful, everyone.

The national landmark has been retrofitted with facial recognition software before, but that technology was light years behind FaceVACS. Designed by a German firm, FaceVACS has proven to be cutting-edge technology, apparently able to estimate a person’s age, differentiate between genders, recognize targets on watch lists, and even ethnicity by way of skin color. (Though that last one doesn’t seem like an absolute science).
As the statue is currently going through renovations, this would be a perfect time to install FaceVACS…
But after Slate reporter Ryan Gallagher tried to learn more about the technology from Total Recall Corp. ―yes, that’s their real name― he was met with what he claims was intimidation and the threat of a lawsuit. Gallagher claims Total Recall Corp., the New York camera contractor who would be installing the new equipment and Cognitec, the German firm that designed FaceVACS, threatened to take legal action against him if he published anything about the technology. We contacted Total Recall Corp. for comment and are waiting to hear back.
Representatives with the National Park Service did little to assuage fears that Lady Liberty will soon be a state-of-the-art spy facility. If true, the Statue of Liberty might be the first of the major American landmarks to be outfitted with Big Brother capabilities.
Now that you know this, will you be making your next summer trip to America’s landmarks?

A company in Japan has created the most advanced robotic exoskeleton the world has ever seen. This would be cause for celebration if that company hadn’t chosen to name themselves “Cyberdyne.”
Most Arnold Schwarzenegger fans know Cyberdyne as the name of the evil artificial intelligence company from the film The Terminator. In the James Cameron-directed series, Cyberdyne creates an army of robots that enslave mankind…
The company notes that the name is a coincidence and comprised of two words: Cybernics, a related academic field, and -dyne, from the Greek word for “power.” We have to take them at their word, although it’s still disturbing that the name of their exoskeleton is also a reference to a sci-fi villain.
The Hybrid Assisted Limb, the company’s exo-suit, is more commonly referred to as HAL. Yes, the same name as the evil artificial intelligence that tried to kill the entire flight crew in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
You can suit up in a Cyberdyne exoskeleton if you like, just don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Well, since kidnapping the destitute wouldn’t be very lucrative, it seems that Detroit’s finest are only (allegedly) “escorting” the homeless out of city limits. Not that the ACLU finds that any less immoral and illegal.
After a yearlong investigation, the ACLU came to the conclusion that the city’s police force has been forcibly placing the homeless into vans and driving them as far away as possible. In some cases, they’ve physically abused the “captives” and even stolen any money they might be carrying, apparently in order to make it more difficult for the transient to return to the Motor City.
Without money and miles from their usual shelters, the homeless, some of whom have mental health problems, have had to stay put in unfamiliar surroundings or walk all the way back to Detroit in a vulnerable condition.
Because this type of treatment is an apparent abuse of our constitutional rights, the ACLU filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice. What makes this case so alarming is that on many occasions the police officers refused to identify themselves as such. Andrew Sheehan, one of the homeless men who reached out to ACLU, claimed in his statement: “ [The man] didn’t identify himself as an officer and he kicked me and told me to get up. I asked him if I was free to go. He told me no.”
A Detroit Police Department spokesperson wrote to the Huffington Post: “At the present time, the Detroit Police Department has not received a copy of the complaint that has been filed. Therefore it would be inappropriate to provide further comment without reviewing the specific allegations.”
As the war on the poor worsens in America, even those with a warm place to call home should be alarmed by what is going on in Detroit. After all, the city has been ravaged by failing industries and was one of the hardest hit by the recession. With only 5,000 shelter beds to accommodate 100,000 homeless people, this treatment of the less fortunate promises to be a growing trend and one where the government and the wealthy pick on the poor, just for being poor. Class warfare, so to speak.

Though we’ve long been sold on the idea that GMO food is safe, this newly-released study “proves” otherwise. Known as the 2012 Corn Comparison Report because it compares organic, naturally-grown corn to the GMO variety, the study will make many consumers scrutinize what’s on their plate. Coming on the tail-end of the Monsanto Protection Act, it’s become increasingly harder for Americans to trust anything going into their stomachs…
The report finds two things wrong with GMO corn. The first isn’t as startling as the second. Unlike natural corn, it seems that the lab-made variety is devoid of most nutritional benefits. For example, natural corn has 437 times the amount of calcium as manufactured corn. So, in terms of health benefits, it seems that GMO corn loses.
But it’s the second revelation that makes this extremely unnerving. While GMO corn lacks nutritional benefits when compared to corn made by Mother Nature, it makes up for it with toxic components. The analysis discovered high levels of chloride, formaldehyde, and glyphosate in Frankenstein corn. In the worst case scenarios, all three have been known to be toxic to humans. In the best case scenarios, they’re harmful to animals and the environment.
But with the Monsanto Protection Act in place, the government is helpless to stop toxic corn, or any other GMO crop that poses a health risk, from landing in our fridge. A new biological warfare is happening on our plates, and our own government might not be able to stop it.
