Reports: Right-Wing Denial Of Global Warming Working
We’re making the polar ice caps melt. We can’t affect an entire planet. We’re killing the polar bears! The polar bears are just fine. This constant see-sawing of popular opinion has everyone’s head spinning when it comes to global warming. People can’t make up their mind if it’s real, or one of the most elaborate political conspiracies of all time. But new polling shows that it doesn’t even matter what the truth is because the denialists are winning.
There’s no doubt that folks are an opinionated mess when talking about global warming – no one seems to be able to tell the fact from the fiction. But there might be a scary truth about why that is. According to abnew study, Americans are now more skeptical about global warming than they were a decade ago, despite an increasing amount of scientific evidence that proves it’s as real and man-made as four-door SUVs…
Only 49 percent of conservative Republicans believe that climate is even changing, while 30 percent think it can be attributed to human pollution. Energy companies don’t want them thinking otherwise. In an effort to keep people skeptical about the scientific consensus on global warming, they’ve put together conservative think-thanks to counter the facts with propaganda. Those think tanks put out news and advertisements that are marketed as being scientific when they are usually heavily whitewashed. And people are listening to them, as shown by the numbers.
Yet people in the scientific community, or, people who actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to the issue of global warming, unanimously agree that we’re killing the polar bears. That the polar ice caps are melting and we’re not doing enough to stop them. And that there’s a creepily successful right-wing agenda that’s making us think otherwise.
