Dreams From Obama’s “Real” Father

As if President Obama didn’t already have enough on his plate, he now has to content with a slanderous new conspiracy theory concerning his parentage. The theory is propagated by Joel Gilbert, creator of the film “Dreams from My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception.” In a film two years in the making, Gilbert rewrites Obama’s bestselling autobiography, Dreams from My Father, and reveals some startling
conclusions.
In Gilbert’s documentary, he alleges that Obama’s father was not Barack Obama, Sr., a Kenyan student, but rather Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist poet and labor activist. Gilbert says on the film’s website that it is important to know the true identity of Obama’s father. “To understand Obama’s plans for America, the question is ‘Who is the real father?’” he declares. This means, of course, that if Obama’s father was a Communist, the POTUS must be a Communist too.
The film would be controversial enough if it stopped there. But it goes on to tar Obama’s mother as well. Gilbert assembles photographs that he says proves that Stanley Ann Dunham was a porn star. Not only, he says, did she pose naked for the camera, she did it with other women while she was pregnant with the 44th President. Gilbert makes his case by describing the similarities between a verified photo of Dunham and photos of a nude woman. (Those photos, however, were long proven to be of a different person and, frankly, look only vaguely like Dunham.)
Despite his sensational claims, director Joel Gilbert had been having a hard time finding an audience for his 95 minute documentary. His website laments:
“Because almost all levels of the mainstream media are
suppressing the information in “Dreams
from My Real Father,” my distribution company, starting this week, is
mailing hundreds of thousands of free copies of the DVD across the United
States.”
Gilbert has allegedly been sending these DVDs to swing states, such as Ohio, Nevada, and New Hampshire in an attempt to sway voters against Obama and his scandalous past.
Whether or not Gilbert’s unconventional campaign strategy will work remains to be seen. In the meantime, his video trailer, found on YouTube but since removed by the poster, has sparked a combination of indignation and hilarity. Indignation over the indignity heaped on the president’s head and hilarity over the ludicrousness of the latest charges.
