Megaupload Founder Blames Biden For Shutdown
As reported before in our FBI Conspiracy Theories piece, the Megaupload shutdown storyline is one filled with plenty of drama and suppositions. It certainly doesn’t help that Kim Dotcom, the company’s founder, is famous for his rowdy antics. But perhaps there’s some truth behind Dotcom’s recent claim that Vice President Joe Biden was the one who ordered the website’s shutdown.
In an exclusive interview with Torrentfreak, Dotcom states that he has credible information that it was “Joe Biden, the best friend of former Senator and MPAA boss Chris Dodd, who ordered his former lawyer and now state attorney Neil MacBride to take Mega down.”
As some of you might remember, the massive file-sharing site was taken down by the feds for allegedly hosting millions of pirated copies of films, music, and other copyrighted material. That pirating, some sources say, resulted in the loss of over $500 million in revenue. New Zealand police, where Dotcom was living, seized items from the millionaire’s estate, and arrested him and three Megaupload employees.
Kim Dotcom protested then that he was targeted for “political reasons,” and the blogosphere agrees. Rampant allegations have sprung up alleging that Megaupload was taken down because it posed a competitive threat to the top media companies.Dotcom is sure that the shutdown was planned during a covert meeting in the West Wing.
And his paranoia might have some truth if one considers that the MPAA lobbied heavily to the office of Joe Biden. Is the Megaupload case a real genuine political thriller, or just the frantic defense of a man hoping to avoid his due punishment?
