Mystery Outbreak Could Bring On The Zombie Invasion
As many as 16 students in LeRoy, New York have been stricken with a mysterious illness characterized by facial tics and Tourettes-like outbursts. Similar to how most moviegoers felt after sitting through Contagion.
Doctors say the students are experiencing a psychological condition called Conversion Disorder or Mass Psychogenic Illness. Basically, it’s what happens when a bunch of people get together and start freaking out; famous instances of conversion disorder are the Salem Witch Trials and my family reunions.
Recently, parents, unsatisfied with calling their children crazy, are demanding new answers. According to the site Liberty Confidential, “One of the most outspoken parents, James Dupont, has said that he doesn’t believe that there is a diagnosis, and that the state health department officials don’t really know what’s wrong…”
The site also claims that the government is preventing the full disclosure of information about the disease.
Parents aren’t the only ones crying foul! Pediatric neurologist Rosario Trifilett told the local NBC affiliate that she believes there is more to the disease than it may seem. "Instead of strep [throat], Dr. Trifiletti says mycoplasma, or walking pneumonia, may be causing it. 'We happen to be in an epidemic [of mycloplasma]. A lot of the times the kids won't have symptoms of walking pneumonia. Some of them may, but will get this instead,' Dr. Trifiletti said…."
Some conspiracy sites are blaming vaccines and accusing officials of using HIPPA to cover up the truth… and if Gwenyth Paltrow gets sick from the flu and her husband Matt Damon is helpless to stop her death we should all start freaking out.
But never fear: rumor has it that caped crusader Erin Brockovich is on her way to LeRoy. Hopefully, she can get to the truth before this disease spreads and turns us all into zombies.
